International university students who participate in a foreign tertiary educational degree program are exposed to challenges that could negatively affect their overall wellbeing and decrease their academic performance. This project focuses on improving international students’ mental well-being by addressing the issues of loneliness, cultural shock, and difficulties with self-expression from the perspectives of young adults, academic staff, and study psychologists. It investigates how collaborative service design methods could be implemented to overcome these adversities. The value of the concept is to help international students develop a sense of belonging and engage them in an activity of their interest through which they can express themselves, while we orient them to take responsibility together. The service concept includes a toolkit: a visualised map, facilitation cards, a facilitation guide and an event documentation template.
