This thesis explores how service design can strengthen the regenerative capacity of Helsinki’s nightlife under economic and cultural pressure. It frames nightlife as social infrastructure that supports belonging, care, learning, identity formation, and collective life after dark. Based on Helsinki’s independent music scene, the research combines document review, interest-holder mapping, interviews, and a co-creation workshop, analysed through regenerative thinking, care ethics, and participatory design. The findings show weakened relational capacity: fragmentation, exhaustion, limited coordination, and uneven access to knowledge, space, and legitimacy. The design outcome, night_box, is a mobile, cooperatively held residency venue for nightlife experimentation. It gives emerging collectives lower-risk access to space, equipment, visibility, and guidance, while helping established actors coordinate, share resources, and build capacity
