Lei Tolentino
An interdisciplinary artist and former civil servant, Lei believes in the power of saying “I don’t know.”While pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, she sat as an ex-officio member of the Dumaguete City Council, co-authoring ordinances and leading projects on youth empowerment, local arts development, climate awareness, and social equity.Lei was also the editor-in-chief of her university’s student paper, building on similar experiences during her elementary and high school years. After graduating, she worked as an executive assistant to the mayor of Dumaguete City, liaising with foreign cities and managing over 200 farm workers on-site in South Korea. To Lei, the phrase “I don’t know” does not mean a lack of intelligence, but rather encourages questions and forms solutions — things done in service design. While art and public service may seem very different, she believes that service design brings out her best in both fields.Lei’s interests include alt music, conceptual art, musical theatre, and languages.
