Claire Elizabeth Dennington
Claire Dennington is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Design at AHO and a practising design researcher, working across service design, design-driven innovation, and ecosystem design. Her work investigates how cultural, emotional, and meaning-making dimensions intersect with technological, systemic, and generative structures.
Her research examines how popular cultural phenomena translate into value-driven services, and how experimental, speculative design practices drive change within organizations and society. Currently, she explores embodied creative processes in encounters with AI, alongside ways to design for friction, resistance, and reflection in an era of seamless acceleration.
With more than 20 years of practice interwoven with academia, she connects research-led insight with execution, collaborating with partners including adidas, NorgesGruppen, Viking, MUNCH, and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. She holds a Master's in Industrial Design (2007) and a PhD in Service Design (2021) from AHO.
