SDSI students join forces with Getliņi EKO to rethink environmental education
A dynamic partnership was underway between the SDSI master's programme and Getliņi EKO- the Baltics’ largest modern landfill manager - to co-create a transformative Environmental Education Centre.
From September to December 2025, SDSI students were taking on a real-world, timely challenge: to apply service design and systems thinking in developing inspiring, interactive concepts that encourage the public to rethink waste and embrace the principles of the circular economy.
The students were designing service strategies for engaging spaces such as a Makerspace and an Exchange Point. In addition to hands-on design, they are also leading stakeholder workshops, and reimagining how visitors interact with sustainability from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.
This collaboration is not just about design - it is about impact. It empowers future leaders to develop solutions that raise awareness and encourage collective responsibility for a sustainable future.
