Kuldīga 2050 summer school brought futures thinking to Kuldīga
The Kuldīga 2050 summer school, part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), brought together 24 students from five partner universities — LMA, EKA, AHO, University of Lapland, and University of Porto — to explore what life in a small European town might look like in 2050.
During the week in Kuldīga, students worked in interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world challenges alongside local stakeholders, including the municipality, museums, businesses, and community organisations. The programme combined design and futures thinking to help participants envision resilient and imaginative futures for the town.
The summer school culminated in student presentations to an international jury, with one team presenting their project at SDSI Open #3, the programme’s annual symposium focused on futures thinking in design.
